Complete board of review

This is your first board of review — Scout rank didn’t have one, so this format is new. It’s the last step before your Tenderfoot rank is official.

What a Board of Review Is

A board of review is a short meeting with a small panel of troop adults (usually two to four, not including your Scoutmaster). It is not a retest. The board isn’t there to quiz you on knots or first aid again — that already happened during your work on each requirement and your Scoutmaster conference. Instead, they’re checking that the process worked: that you completed the requirements, that your experience in the troop has been positive, and that you’re ready to move forward.

What to Expect

• You’ll be asked to talk about your experience earning Tenderfoot — what you enjoyed, what was hard, what you learned.
• Questions are usually open-ended, not pass/fail trivia.
• The board wants an honest conversation, not rehearsed answers.

Once the board is satisfied, you’ll be notified that you’ve earned Tenderfoot rank — the first of many boards of review ahead of you in Scouts BSA.
