Complete Scoutmaster conference
10.
While working toward the Tenderfoot rank, and after completing Scout rank requirement 7, participate in a Scoutmaster conference.
You already sat through a Scoutmaster conference to earn Scout rank, so the format won’t surprise you: a one-on-one conversation with your Scoutmaster, not a test. What’s different this time is the content — you’re bringing a full rank’s worth of new skills instead of just joining the troop.
What’s Different at Tenderfoot
Where your Scout-rank conference mostly checked that you understood the basics of the program, this one reviews everything you did across all eleven Tenderfoot requirements: camping, cooking, knots, first aid, hiking, fitness, citizenship, and Scout spirit. Expect your Scoutmaster to ask about specific moments from your campouts, not just whether boxes got checked.
Getting Ready
- Review each requirement and be ready to talk about what you actually did, not just what the requirement says.
- Bring any notes or worksheets you completed — your fitness plan, your first-aid kit list.
- Be honest about anything you’re still unsure of. This conversation is meant to catch gaps before your board of review, not to catch you out.
