  3. Mix the Plaster: In a clean disposable container, add Plaster of Paris to clean water, stirring until it reaches the consistency of smooth, thick pancake batter (no lumps).
  4. Pour the Cast: Pour the plaster mixture gently inside the cardboard ring, letting it flow into the depressions of the track without splashing or dislodging fine soil details. Fill the collar to a depth of about 1 inch.
  5. Cure and Finish: Allow the cast to harden undisturbed for 15 to 20 minutes. Once firm, gently dig beneath the collar and lift the cast out. Allow it to fully dry for several hours, then brush away remaining soil under running water. On the back, use a waterproof marker to record the date, location, habitat type, and animal species.
