Setting Up a Lightweight Canister Stove
- Choose a Stable Surface: Find a level, non-flammable surface on the ground or a camp table away from dry leaves, tents, and overhead tarps.
- Inspect the O-Ring: Check the rubber O-ring inside the stove threads for cracks, tears, or dirt. A damaged O-ring can leak flammable gas.
- Attach the Canister: Screw the stove burner onto the isobutane canister smoothly. Do not cross-thread or overtighten. Listen and smell for gas leaks.
- Stabilize: Fold out the pot support arms fully. Use a plastic canister tripod base if available for increased stability.
- Lighting: Hold a lit match or lighter right beside the burner rim, then slowly turn the stove valve counter-clockwise until gas hisses and ignites. Adjust the flame to the desired level.
Setting Up a Two-Burner Propane Stove
- Level the Stove: Place the stove on a sturdy, level camp kitchen table. Open the lid and lock the side wind-guards in place.
- Connect the Regulator: Screw the metal regulator tube into the side of the stove until finger-tight.
