Complete board of review

12.
Successfully complete your board of review for the Second Class rank.

You already went through a board of review for Tenderfoot, so the format won’t be new — a short meeting with a small panel of troop adults, not a retest of your skills.

What’s Different This Time

The board will ask about your experience earning Second Class specifically — what campouts you went on, what you learned about first aid and navigation, and how the rank felt compared to Tenderfoot. It’s still an open conversation, not a quiz on knots or fire-building.

What to Expect

  • Be ready to talk about what you enjoyed, what was hard, and what you learned since your Tenderfoot board of review.
  • Questions are open-ended, aimed at an honest conversation rather than pass/fail trivia.
  • The board wants to hear about your actual experience, not a rehearsed summary.

Once the board is satisfied, you’ll be notified that you’ve earned Second Class — the halfway point to First Class, and the rank where most of your core outdoor skills come together for the first time.
