The requirements for Eagle Scout demand comprehensive project management, deep personal reflection, and continued active leadership. Begin preparing immediately:

Download and Study the Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook

Obtain the official Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook (BSA publication No. 512-927) directly from scouting.org. Read through the entire document—especially the Navigating the Eagle Scout Service Project, Information for Project Beneficiaries section—to understand the full lifecycle from Proposal to Final Report.

Formulate Your Service Project Concept

Brainstorm community needs with local schools, religious institutions, non-profit charities, or civic parks. Look for a project that allows you to demonstrate substantial planning, fundraising (if needed), organization, and leadership of others.

Map Out Your Remaining Merit Badges

Verify which Eagle-required categories you still need to complete (such as Personal Management, Family Life, Citizenship in Society, or Emergency Preparedness). Factor in the 90-day tracking requirements to ensure you finish all badges well before age 18.

• National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE): An elite leadership program held at Philmont Scout Ranch and other national high-adventure bases, building on NYLT principles.
