Participate in 10 activities

Since joining Scouts BSA, participate in 10 separate troop/patrol activities, at least six of which must be held outdoors. Of the outdoor activities, at least three must include overnight camping. These activities do not include troop or patrol meetings. On campouts, spend the night in a tent that you pitch or other structure that you help erect, such as a lean-to, snow cave, or tepee.
You tracked five activities for Second Class; this requirement doubles every number in that same structure. Get the counting right and the rest takes care of itself.
The Three Minimums
- Ten activities total, counted from the day you joined Scouts BSA — including any you already logged toward Tenderfoot or Second Class.
- At least six of those 10 must be outdoors. The rest can be indoor troop activities, service projects, or anything else your patrol does together.
- At least three of the outdoor activities must include overnight camping. A day hike counts toward the outdoor minimum but not the overnight one unless you actually camp.
Regular troop or patrol meetings never count, even if they’re held outdoors.
Pitching Your Own Shelter, Every Time
Every overnight campout you count toward this requirement still requires you to sleep in a tent you pitched yourself, or another structure you helped erect — a lean-to, snow cave, or tepee. This is the same standard you’ve met since Tenderfoot; by First Class, it should be second nature.

Track each one as it happens
- Date and activity name.
- Indoor or outdoor.
- Overnight camping or not.
- Who you helped pitch a tent or structure with, if it was overnight.
