Complete board of review

This is your third board of review — you already went through one for Tenderfoot and one for Second Class — so the format is familiar: a short meeting with a small panel of troop adults, not a retest of your skills.

What’s Different This Time

First Class is the rank where most Scouts have built a complete, independent outdoor skill set — the board will likely ask what that shift has felt like, not just what you did. Expect questions about your growth across all four foundational ranks, and about whether you’re starting to help newer Scouts the way older Scouts once helped you.

What to Expect

• Be ready to talk about what you enjoyed, what was hard, and what you learned since your Second Class board of review.
• Questions are open-ended, aimed at an honest conversation rather than pass/fail trivia.
• The board wants to hear about your actual experience, including how you’ve grown since you joined.

Once the board is satisfied, you’ll be notified that you’ve earned First Class — the last of the four foundational ranks, and the point where many Scouts choose to keep going toward Star, Life, and Eagle.
