# Complete Scoutmaster conference

Part of the First Class guide: [Introduction & Overview](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/first-class/guide/index.md)

*Advancement & Review*

> **12.** While working toward the First Class rank, and after completing Second Class requirement 11, participate in a Scoutmaster conference.

You've now sat through [a Scoutmaster conference at Tenderfoot](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/tenderfoot/guide/req10/) and [another at Second Class](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/second-class/guide/req11/), so the format is familiar: a one-on-one conversation, not a test. What's different this time is the content you're bringing to it.

## What's Different at First Class

This is the biggest rank yet — thirteen requirements covering camping, cooking, tools, navigation, nature, aquatics, first aid, fitness, and citizenship, on top of Scout spirit. Expect your Scoutmaster to draw on all of it: the campouts you actually camped on, the orienteering course you actually ran, the emergency plan you actually wrote for your own home.

## Getting Ready

- Review each requirement and be ready to talk about what you actually did, not just what the requirement says.
- Bring your activity log from [requirement 1a](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/first-class/guide/req1a/) and your fitness log from [requirement 8a](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/first-class/guide/req8a/).
- Think through your Scout spirit examples from [requirement 11](https://scouting.university/scouts-bsa/ranks/first-class/guide/req11/) ahead of time.

> **Tip**
>
> This requirement specifically comes after Second Class requirement 11 — confirm that conference is complete before scheduling this one.
